ABSTRACT

Objective@#To investigate the clinical presentation, clinicopathologic features, diagnosis and differential diagnosis of adult T cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATLL).@*Methods@#Four cases of ATLL from Fujian Cancer Hospital between October 2017 and May 2018 were analyzed using hematoxylin-eosin and immunohistochemical stains and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for HTLV-1 provirus genes. The relevant literature was reviewed.@*Results@#There were two males and two females, age range 38-80 years. All patients were from coastal cities of Fujian province. Clinical presentations including lymphadenopathy, hepatomegaly and splenomegaly were detected in most patients; skin lesion, hypercalcemia and lymphocytosis were also commonly detected.Histologically, there was diffuse effacement of the normal architecture by tumor cells infiltration. The inflammatory background is usually sparse, with scanty eosinophils. The atypical lymphoid cells were typically medium to large sized with pronounced nuclear pleomorphism, irregular nuclei, chromatin clumping and prominent nucleoli. Blast-like cells with transformed nuclei were present in variable proportions. Giant cells with convoluted or cerebriform nuclear contours may be present. Rare cases may be composed predominantly of anaplastic tumor cells. Characteristic "flower cells" with large multi-lobated nuclei can be seen. The tumor cells were strongly positive for CD2, CD3, CD5, CD4 and CD25, but negative for CD7, CD8 and cytotoxic molecules (including TIA-1, Granzyme B and perforin). In three cases, the large transformed cells were positive for CD30. In one case, the anaplastic large cells were diffusely and strongly positive for CD30. All cases were negative for EBER, but positive for HTLV-1 provirus.@*Conclusions@#ATLL is a rare type of T cell lymphoma with unique clinical and pathological features, and should be distinguished from peripheral T cell lymphoma, NOS, ALK negative anaplastic large cell lymphoma and mycosis fungoides. Hypercalcemia, systemic disease, characteristic "flower cells" and specific immunophenotypic profile of CD3+, CD4+, CD25+, and CD7- are highly suggestive. However, ATLL can only be confirmed if the presence of HTLV-1 provirus.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the characteristics and influencing factors of methamphetamine dependence adolescents’ emotional faces recognition ability. Methods Eighty-six adolescents methamphet-amine addicts and 85 healthy volunteers were tested by a self-designed questionnaire and an experiment of e-motional faces identification. Results (1)There was no significant correlation between the emotional faces recognition ability of the experimental group with their age, education level and drug time (P>0. 05). (2)The correct number of positive(32. 58 ±8. 56),neutral (32. 76±8. 06),and negative(56. 28±20. 04) emotional faces recognition in the experimental group was significantly lower than that in the control group of positive (35. 64±3. 91),neutral(35. 47±4. 00),and negative(71. 02±8. 62) emotional faces recognition(t=-3. 00,-2. 79,-6. 24,P<0. 05). Meanwhile, the response time of positive(( 401. 32± 175. 13) ms) and negative ((502. 08±194. 42)ms) emotional faces recognition in the experimental group was significantly lower than that in the control group of positive((300. 83±139. 48)ms) and negative((379. 91±197. 30)ms) emotional faces (t=4. 15,4. 08,P<0. 05). Nevertheless, there was no significant difference between the experimental group((400. 90±174. 21) ms) and the control group ((356. 67±156. 70) ms) in the recognition response time of neutral emotional faces (t=1. 75,P>0. 05). Conclusion Methamphetamine dependence impairs the ability of adolescents’ emotional faces recognition, and their positive and negative emotional recognition abili-ty has processing defects. The ability of methamphetamine dependence adolescents to emotional faces recogni- tion is not affected by their age, education level and time of drug uses.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the status of soil fertility of Good Agricultural Practices ( GAP) base for Spatholobus suberectus Dunn. (SSD) in Pingyuan county of Guangdong province, thus to provide reference for GAP research and the subsequent fertilization for SSD. Methods The deep layer and superficial layer of GAP soil were collected for the physiochemical detection and nutrient assay. Compared with the classification standard of the second national general soil investigation, single base soil fertility index was diagnosed and the comprehensive soil fertility was evaluated with modified Nemoro Index. Results The soil pH value and the contents of exchangeable calcium and magnesium were unbalanced, and the contents of macroelements of nitrogen and phosphonium, microelements, and organic matter were low. Therefore, the measures for improving the base soil fertility should be as follows: ( 1) soil amendments of bentonite, gypsum and slaked lime should be used to adjust the soil pH value; ( 2) each plant should be given 10 kg of slaked organic fertilizer as base fertilizer; ( 3) in the process of nurturing, some special micro-fertilizer solution should be used to treat the cut slips, and 5 kg of urea should be used for every 667 meter square of land; ( 4) besides compound fertilizer, every 667 meter square of land should be fertilized with 15 kg of ammonium dihydrogen phosphate for the supplement of nitrogen and phosphorus, and slaked lime and magnesium carbonate should be used for the supplement of soil moderate-quantity elements after transplantation. Conclusion The comprehensive fertility of Pingyuan GAP base for Spatholobus suberectus Dunn. is at low level, and should be improved in combination with GAP requirements.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVEPresent study was conducted to explore the growth and photosynthetic characteristics of Tulipa edulis under different light conditions (23%, 45%, 63%, 78%, 100% of full sunlight) and to determine the optimum light intensity for growth of T. edulis.

METHODThe leaf area and biomass indicators as well as reproductive characteristics were measured. The photosynthetic basic parameters and light response curve were determined by a LI-6400XT portable photosynthesis system, and the light response curve characteristic parameters was determined. Additionally, chlorophyll fluorescence parameters were determined by assorted fluorescence leaf chamber of LI-6400XT.

RESULTThe lowest biomass yield was observed in the 23% and 100% of full sunlight treatments while the highest value was found under the 78% of full sunlight conditions. With the reduction of light availability, the success rate of sexual reproduction, light saturation point (LSP) and light compensation point (LCP) reduced, while apparent quantum yield (AQY) increased. 23% and 45% of full sunlight treatments led to lower photosynthesis rate (Pn) and higher apparent quantum yield (AQY) in comparison with other treatents. The highest photosynthesis rate was observed in the 78% and 100% of full sunlight treatments. In addition, 78% of full sunlight treatments led to highest Fv/Fm, Fv'/Fm', PhiPS II, ETR, and qP.

CONCLUSIONT. edulis was able to adapt in a wide range of light intensity, and 78% of full sunlinght was the most suitable light condition for growth of T. edulis.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE To discuss about the influence of the monograph Treatise on Pestilence(Wenyilun) dealing with infectious disease on traditional Chinese medicine(TCM).It was the first time alternatively to describe about infectious disease in etiology, pathogenesis and treatment by TCM way. METHODS In etiology,it was described Zaqi(a special pathogenic factor) to cause infectious epidemic disease, not by general six pathogenic factors. It was similar with modern medicine in etiology. In pathology,it was analyzed and differentiated the developing of an epidemic febrile disease treatment with Qi and Xue.In treatment,it used elimination treatment method including diaphoresis, inducing emesis, and purgation therapy. RESULTS Since then a new science of epidemic febrile disease of TCM was gradually formed. CONCLUSIONS This new theory has deeply influenced in the analysis and differentiation and treatment of epidemic febrile disease. Now theory on epidemis febrile disease of TCM is becoming a systemic and comprehensive doctrine about infectious disease treatment in modern Chinese medicine.
